Today we are going to download and install Windows 11. We will use a virtual machine as the system that we install Windows 11 on.
Let’s start with downloading Windows 11 from the Microsoft website. Here is the link for Windows 11 ISO download.
Open the website from the above link. Find the Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) section. Select the Windows 11 – Muti Edition. Then you need to select the language (English in my case). A download button will appear – 64-bit Download – press the button to start the download process. I was using Internet Download manager to download this image.
Here are the settings that I am using for the Windows 11 installation system. Note that I set the CDROM to use the ISO image that we download in the above section.
Minimum hardware requirements
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC). RAM: 4 gigabytes (GB) or greater. Storage: 64 GB* or greater available storage is required to install Windows 11.
We also need to enable the UEFI and the Enable secure boot. After that save your updated setting and we have one more step to do.
Windows 11 adding TPM to VMX file:
We need to open the VMWare VMX file of the Windows 11 VM we created using a text editor, like notepad. To find the file location you can look in the VM setting screen under Virtual Machine Details. Next, we need to go to the folder of that file, using Windows explorer, You can press the Windows button + E for that. Once in the folder open the VMX file using the editor and add the following like to the bottom of the file – managedVM.autoAddVTPM = “software”
Save the VMX file close VMWare and open it again to continue with the Windows 11 installation.
When rebooting the system – note the message – you need to press any key during this step to boot from the CDROM drive, where we have our Windows 11 ISO image.
