In the last article, we talk about creating an installation USB using Rufus. With this article we will continue our journey and install Windows 10 64bit using our USB device.
In my case, I am using a Virtual Computer using VMWare. If you are installing a real computer, you should plug the USB into an empty USB slot and start the computer.
How to install windows 10 from USB device:
You may need to press a key to start the installation, or select the boot device.
If you need to select the boot device, make sure you are using the USB disk as the boot device.
In older computer, there might be a need to enter the BIOS and enable boot from USB device, but this is out of the scope if this article.

Once the installation start, it will load some drivers and show some other information until the above screen appear.
In this screen you can select the Installation Language, the Time and Currency format and the Keyboard to use.
I am limiting this guide for installation only (for new installation) and not using the repair option.

Please press the Install now button on your screen to start the installation progress.

You will see a Setup is starting message that may be on your screen for some time.

If you have a product key, this is your time to set it. If not you can continue the installation by pressing the – I don’t have a product key – it will let you continue the installation but the system will be limited and work for 30 days.
Windows 10 non activation limit:
Here are the limitation that i know when Windows is not activated:
- Windows update
- 30 days
- Activate Window background message
- Not able to change the desktop background image/themes.
- More can found in this link: Using an inactivated windows 10

For this guide we are selection the Windows 10 Pro 64 bit as our Windows operation system to install.
For most of the installation process you can select your prefer operation system to install as most of the screens will look the same, with minor changes.

To continue with the installation progress you need to read and accept Microsoft License and Terms.
After reading and understanding this, if you agree you can mark the – I accept the license terms – and press the Next button.
If you are not agree with this license terms you can press the red X in the upper corner and exit the Windows 10 installation.

For this guide we are selecting the – Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) – as we want to install a clean and new windows on our PC or virtual machine.

We are using the default, it will install windows on the selected hard disk without and changes. If you know what you are dosing, you can use this screen to split the hard disk, format it and do other stuff related to hard disk setting. We are using the default and pressing on the Next button.

The installation process is starting. This step can take some time. Windows will copy the files to your hard drive, install the needed drivers and so on for your system to be ready with your new Windows 10 system.

We are using theĀ – Use Express Setting – for this guide. If you want to do some customization please press the Customize button. Please note the customize is out of the scope of this guide.

And here we are waiting again…

Here we select – I own it, and press the next button. If you are installing a work or a school owned computer you may need to select the first option. But as this is for a personal PC. I am using the second option.

If you have a Microsoft account, you can use it to sign in with this Windows. You can also create an account with Microsoft by selection the Create One option. For this guide I am skipping this step for now.
Due to the fact that I skip the register or create a Microsoft account, I need to create a local user account for using this device. Please use your prefeed name and password to be use with this system. you will use this user to login into this system.

For this installation guide I am not going to use Cortana. Keep in mine that you can activate Cortana later if you like to use it.

Now you will see some text on the screen, asking you to wait and not turning off your PC. After a while it will end and your new Windows 10 installation from USB device is done!

Now, that the installation is done, it is your time to install your other software.
Congratulations your Windows 10 is ready, have fun!
